David Myles Brinton's second-degree murder charge was adjourned to Feb. 13 after he made a brief video appearance in Owen Sound bail court Wednesday.
Brinton, of no fixed address, is charged in the death of Robert Lawrence Edmund Hampson, 49, of Meaford, on Jan. 15 in Meaford. The 44-year-old is in custody in the Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene.
Grey County Crown attorney Michael Martin told Justice of the Peace David Stafford that Brinton has hired lawyer Peter Copeland, who is waiting for disclosure of information gathered by police.
Martin said a bail hearing for Brinton won't take place Feb. 13 but a date for one to take place in the Superior Court of Justice may be set at that appearance.
Police spent days at Hampson's farmhouse along Grey Rd. 18 south of Highway 26 after his death.
