City-run websites were once again offline on Thursday, less than a day after they had been brought back online after a virus forced Owen Sound officials to shut them down on the weekend.
The city called a press conference for early Thursday afternoon to give an update on the city websites.
Wayne Ritchie, the city's financial services director, said Wednesday the City of Owen Sound, Owen Sound Tourism, Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library, Owen Sound Police Service and Tom Thomson Art Gallery websites were all restored after information technology staff performed "deep" virus scans on the city web server and multiple tests.
City hall shut down the sites Sunday after IT staff were told some visitors to city websites were being redirected to pages that contained "unacceptable content."
Ritchie said several people called city councillors to alert them of the problem.
IT staff spent Monday trying to find the source of the virus.
