Brockton man arrested in violent assault of West Grey man

A Brockton man has been arrested in connection with a violent assault of another man earlier in the week.

On Monday at 6:30 a.m., members of the Hanover Police Service responded to the reports of an assault in the 300 block of 10th Street in Hanover.


The investigation determined that a dispute had occurred inside an apartment earlier in the morning between two men who were known to each other. During the dispute, a 39-year-old West Grey man was violently assaulted with weapons, punched and threatened with further violence if he refused to turn over a sum of money, Hanover police said in a news release.

On Thursday shortly after 10 p.m., Joey Durocher, 34, of Brockton was arrested by Hanover police and held for a bail hearing.

Durocher has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, assault, extortion, uttering threats and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
