A Clarksburg resident has won $1 million after playing Encore “as a mistake.”
Venecia Bautista Taveras won the money after matching all seven Encore numbers in the April 16 Lotto Max draw. She also won $5 on another one of her Encore selections.
“I purchased Encore as a mistake then ended up winning,” Bautista Taveras said in a news release from the OLG.
The married 41-year-old mother and grandmother said she was thrilled when she discovered she had won big.
“I told my mom and sister right away,” she said. “They didn’t believe me at first and then they said ‘OMG, she’s not lying.’”
With her winnings, Bautista Taveras plans to pay bills, donate some and save some for a surfing trip when it is safe.
“It feels really nice and takes the pressure off,” she said.
The winning ticket was purchased at Top O’ The Rock in Flesherton.
