There have been no active cases of COVID-19 reported to the Grey Bruce Health Unit since July 15.
The health unit’s daily situation report shows 115 cumulative cases of pandemic virus infection, 109 recovered and six others referred to other health units. No one is listed in hospital due to COVID-19 and 28 healthcare workers have had the virus.
There remains an outbreak of the disease reported at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre. A staff member, referred to in Monday’s situation report as a non-active, temporary staff member who lives outside the region, triggered the declaration. She’s not working at the home now.
All outbreak protocols remain in place at that home, the health unit has said.
The facility’s spokeswoman, Sheena Campbell, said Monday that the staff member showed no symptoms of the respiratory virus and was detected during routine staff testing conducted twice monthly. She anticipated there would be more resident testing soon.
The Meaford case announced Monday was not included in the local health unit’s total cases of infection because that person lives in another health unit’s jurisdiction and is under its management.
The last time an active local case was reported in Grey-Bruce was July 15. The last time a new, local COVID case was reported by the health unit was July 9.
