An Owen Sound man faces impaired driving charges after a vehicle was seen being driven erratically in the city on Thursday evening.
Officers responded at about 8:30 p.m. after a concerned driver witnessed the vehicle travelling erratically through the streets on the east side, police said in a news release.
Officers located a 2010 Dodge pickup in the 500 block of 7th Avenue East, and the driver continued for several blocks before finally stopping for police.
It was immediately evident to police that the driver was not fit to operate a vehicle and he was taken into custody, police said. Once police were able to identify the man, it was found that he had been arrested for impaired driving in the city in December.
A drug recognition officer determined the 42-year-old man was impaired by drugs.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 18 on charges of impaired driving and driving with a suspended licence.
City police also made two other arrests on Thursday evening. A 39-year-old city man was arrested just before 8 p.m. after it was found that he failed to comply with a condition of a previous release order. He is also slated to appear in court on Feb. 18.
And a 32-year-old Owen Sound man faces charges after Grey Bruce OPP were conducting an investigation involving the man and discovered city police had a warrant for his arrest.
The warrant had been issued for charges of theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000.
The man was arrested and was later turned over to city police. He is to appear in court next month to answer to the charges.
