A 32-year-old Owen Sound man has arrested in connection with counterfeit $100 bills that have been circulating in the area.
The man has been charged with several counts of distributing and possessing counterfeit money as well as fraud, theft and breach of probation following his arrest on Wednesday evening, it said in a news release from the Owen Sound Police Service.
He was held for a bail hearing on Thursday.
Police alerted local businesses and the general public on July 26 about the counterfeit bills that were circulating in the area.
Local businesses are being cautioned that there may still be some of the counterfeit $100 bill circulating. The bills that have been seized have the identical serial number, EKR2223601, and a blue stamp on the back, police said.
