Grey Bruce OPP charged a 48-year-old Meaford woman who police say assaulted an officer after she was investigated for drinking and driving.

On Dec. 30 at 4:10 p.m., police were dispatched to a possible impaired driver on Moore Street in Meaford, near the 11thLine. The driver showed “obvious signs of impairment” and was arrested.

Back at the detachment in Chatsworth, a breath test showed her blood-alcohol level exceeded the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. While in custody, police say the driver assaulted an officer, who needed no medical treatment.

The driver was charged with two drinking and driving offences as well as one count of assault police. She was released with a Feb. 4 court date.
