Saugeen Shores police charged a 36-year-old man with offences after three local break-ins and four thefts, a police news release said Friday.

The man, identified as someone living in Bruce County and known to police, is charged with three counts of break, enter and commit an offence, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of fentanyl, mischief under $5,000 and four counts of theft.

He’s alleged to have broken into the Woodpecker Lounge in Port Elgin and committed theft. Several items were stolen including electronics, alcohol and cash. He left behind articles that may assist in identifying him, police said in an earlier news release.

Police were investigating that on July 28, the same day police say he was seen stealing from Canadian Tire.

On July 30 police spotted him on a bicycle and arrested him for the Canadian Tire theft, then identified him as their suspect in the Woodpecker Lounge break-in and in two break-ins at commercial units in Maple Square Mall.
