Seven new cases of COVID-19 were reported to the Grey Bruce Health Unit Thursday, bringing to 34 the number of active cases of the novel coronavirus in the region.
Two of the new cases were from Grey Highlands, while Arran-Elderslie, Chatsworth, Kincardine, Saugeen Shores and West Grey each had one new case, according to public health’s daily situation report.
Two people with confirmed cases of the virus are hospitalized in Grey-Bruce. No one has died of COVID-19 in the two counties.
There are 96 high-risk contacts associated with active cases and one active probable case, which means it has not been lab-confirmed, but the person is symptomatic and a high-risk contact of an active case.
Public health says 664 cases have been confirmed locally so far in the pandemic. It says 585 have recovered and 45 have been referred to other health units.
There are currently no active outbreaks of the virus in any Grey-Bruce schools, daycare centres or long-term care facilities.
Public health has administered all 200 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine delivered so far to Grey-Bruce.
Ontario reported 2,632 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday and said 46 people died of the illness.
The total daily case count included 102 infections in Toronto that were previously unreported due to a technical issue.
There were 897 new cases reported in Toronto, along with 412 in Peel Region, 245 in York Region and 162 in Ottawa.
