South Bruce OPP re-open highway, still searching for man

Police are looking for a man seen running from a single-vehicle crash southeast of Mildmay this morning in South Bruce.

South Bruce OPP said they responded to this report about 8:25 a.m.

A police news release sent at 10:36 Sunday morning said police were looking for a driver of a black pickup truck which hit a hydro pole and ended up in the south ditch on Highway 9, between Side Road 35 and Side Road 40. A witness reported seeing a man who was an occupant of the truck running south from the scene, police said.

West Region Emergency Response Team and a canine unit have responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. A section of Highway 9 when had been between Mildmay and Grey County Road 10 near Clifford was reopened, a second release announced at 2:36 p.m.

Residents in the area of Mildmay south to Clifford may experience power outages while repairs to the downed hydro pole take place, the release said.

The suspect is described as a being a white male, around 30 years of age, with a slim build and was wearing a black jacket.
