A suspect wanted by police after a driver refused to stop for officers in Saugeen Shores was later arrested at a motel in Georgian Bluffs.
On Sunday an officer on general patrol observed a suspicious vehicle and occupant parked at a residence in Port Elgin. The investigation found that the plates on the vehicle had been reported stolen from an address in Georgian Bluffs, Saugeen Shores Police Service said in a news release.
Police followed the vehicle on Goderich Street and attempted to stop it, but the driver refused and accelerated in a dangerous manner, narrowly missing two police vehicles in the process, the release said.
The vehicle was last seen travelling north towards Southampton.
Officers did not pursue the vehicle, but the driver of the vehicle was quickly identified by police, the release said.
At 1:10 p.m., members of the Grey Bruce OPP located the man at a motel in Georgian Bluffs and he was arrested.
The 34-year-old Owen Sound man has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, flight from police, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, and two counts of failing to comply with probation. He was released with a court date.
