Woman, 83, among three charged after Arran-Elderslie drug bust

An 83-year-old woman is among three people facing drug trafficking charges after a drug bust in Arran-Elderslie on Wednesday.

Members of the OPP Community Street Crimes Unit, West Region OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine Unit and Saugeen Shores Police Service executed a search warrant at a property on Grey Road 3.

As a result of the search, police seized OxyContin, hydromorphone and fentanyl with an estimated combined value of more than $8,600. Police also seized offence-related property, including drug trafficking paraphernalia, digital scales, packaging material and cellphones.

An 83-year-old woman, a 46-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, all of Arran-Elderslie, were all charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking. The man was also charged with failing to comply with a recognizance and was held in custody pending a bail hearing. Both women are scheduled to appear in court on March 18 to answer to their charge.
