The Durham Chiefs and Wilmot Thunder (New Hamburg) were crowned tournament winners this past weekend at the Ontario Amateur Softball Association Under-14 Provincial Tournament in Tara and Allenford.
The Thunder topped the Tara MacDonnell Fuels Twins 7-1 in the A Division final to take the gold while the Chiefs took down the St. George Spartans 12-1 in the B Divison title game.
The Tara MacDonnell Fuels Twins went undefeated in round-robin play playing out of the A Division in Tara. The Twins beat Wilmot 5-2 and Drumbo 4-3 on Saturday before downing Elmira 9-4 Sunday to finish 3-0 and earn a berth into the championship game.
In Allenford, the Tara Ron Nickason Construction Twins went 1-2 in the B Division. The Twins fell 8-1 against Durham Saturday morning before beating St. George 3-1. The Twins were then shut out 10-0 Sunday by Wilmot (Baden).
A total of eight teams competed in two bubbles over the weekend as live championship team sports returned to Grey-Bruce.
