Bad News Bears plug Leaky Canoes

On Wednesday the Bad News Bears defeated the Meaford Leaky Canoe Ladies 5-2. Erika Ernst had 13 strikeouts for Meaford. Leading the Bears was Amanda Zettle who went 4-for-4 with three singles. Jacey Lisk and Courtney Torrie both had doubles. Ernest had two doubles for Meaford while Jen Croft had two doubles.

Gators scuttle Ladies lead

The Allenford Gators swamped the Tara Ladies 8-5 in the GBLFL. The come-from-behind effort was led for Tammy Klages and Keri Emke who both doubled in the contest. The Ladies took an early 5-2 lead after two innings, but the Gators snapped back to tie the game in the fourth and take the lead in the final frame. Hedi McLeod swatted a two-bagger for Tara.


Mohawks manage a win in Owen Sound

The Owen Sound Randy’s Lock Safe & Alarm Inc. North Stars bantam club fell to Centre Wellington 6-2 at the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre Wednesday. Kashias Keeshig and Jaxon Gawel scored the N’Stars goals.


Wolves track meet crowns champions

Owen Sound District held their annual track and field meet on Thursday with individual champions being named in the boys and girls midget, junior and senior classes. Grace Vokes won the midget girls title while Alex Schiefley took the junior crown and Kerylyn Weppler topped the senior circuit. Lewis Crittall led the pack for the midget boys and Josh Lair the juniors. Noah Dyal sprinting to the top of the senior boys podium.


Lambkin and Peer ring in victory

Bob Lambkin and Murray Peer took the top spot in the weekly Grey County Horseshoe league in Chatsworth Thursday. Jim Hammill and Bob Morris finished second while Bob Downey and Ken Hilsden rounded out the top-three.
